What Wedding Flowers Work Best

Your big day is still a few months away, but you haven’t picked out your wedding flowers yet. You don’t know what colors do get, you don’t know what types of flowers are available and you just don’t have the time to sort it all out. No problem. Flowers are one of the nicest problems to have.

When choosing a florist for your wedding, find someone who has a good reputation. Your wedding flowers may come from someone online, in town or even from a wholesale florist. No matter where you go, check their references. Better be safe than sorry now!

After you have chosen your florist, ask them a lot of questions. Any reputable florist or flower seller will know about flowers. It’s their passion, they should be able to talk about them for hours! The florist can make suggestions based on your theme, the time of year and even what colors you have chosen.

While white is usually the primary color in a bride’s bouquet, you don’t have to follow suit. Pick colors if you want colorful. After all, it’s your day! Some flowers that come in white and in colors include roses, gerbera daisies, mums, lilies and carnations.

Typical spring flowers include tulips, lilies, daffodils and gardenias. Summer flowers are virtually unlimited, and include sunflowers, black eyed Susan’s, gladiolas, asters, zinnias and cosmos. Winter and fall flowers usually need to be ordered, so whatever a greenhouse can grow is available. The most popular blossoms that work well in bouquets because they are fragrant and hold their petals are roses, mock orange blossoms, aster maria, carnations, calla lilies and baby’s breath.

Ultimately, whatever flower you choose is what will work best for you. Don’t let anyone else choose your flowers or ‘change your mind’ because it’s your day and you want to remember it well.
